Abstract

The article shows the results of a modelling study of new energy use projects in the conditions of an effective regional economy. It is shown that a comprehensive regional development must necessarily be based on the priority of environmental and energy security. Crimea is rich with non-renewable and mostly renewable energy resources (the main of which is the energy of the Sun). Optimal energy sustainability of a region, the study’s authors argue, can be achieved mainly due to the intensive use of renewable energy sources.

KEYWORDS: new energy, regional economy, integrated regional development, regional energy security, optimal energy sustainability of region, renewable energy sources.
